Iraq relations with Germany and Saudi Arabia 1939
Includes report on German economic and political activity in Iraq, pg. 16; telegram from Paul Knabenshue, U.S. consul general to Iraq, regarding Iraqi government belief that German propaganda was "indirectly responsible for the death of the British Consul at Mosul and to have been the source of current rumors attributing the death of [King] Ghazi to foul play," pg. 40; Knabenshue refers to "the death of the late King Ghazi on April 4 last and the murder on the same day by a mob of the British Consul at Mosul [...] In spite of all the efforts to convince the public that the death of King Ghazi was accidental...a large part of the population is apparently still convinced that his death was caused by a plot of some kind in some inexplicable way either by the Nuri government or by the British or both," pg. 51.
